Teddy Bear Picnic

To end "Tt" week, we had a teddy bear picnic.  We read the book, Teddy Bear Picnic and learned that only teddy bears can go to a teddy bear picnic, so we dressed up in disguise by making and wearing teddy bear headbands.  Then, we carried our teddies and went to the picnic.  Each child received a brown bag of bear food (teddy grahams, honeycomb cereal, goldfish crackers, and gummy bears) thanks to all of our sweet parents.  Once we got outside, we sorted our snacks.  Then, the best part, we go to eat it!  What a fun way to end the week!

T is for Teddy Bear

Learning about the letter Tt was so much fun!  We did some fun activities with teddy bears this week.  Our comprehension skill in reading this week was classify and categorize, so we practiced by categorizing our bears in different ways.  I asked the boys and girls how we could do this.  The first way mentioned was to categorize them by "bears" and "not bears".  Second, we categorized them by "brown" and "not brown".  They did a great job!  We lined up our bears  by size...shortest to longest.  Finally, we constructed the letter "T" with our teddies.  I let the children do this entirely by themselves.  They had to practice teamwork to get it done.  And, they were awesome at it!

Miss Claudia

We were honored to have a Jacksonville State Student observe in our classroom over the past few days!  It was great to have her in our classroom.  She brought us a special snack on her last day.  I wanted to post a few pictures of her and our class.  Enjoy!

Grandparent's Day

We celebrated Grandparent's Day Thursday.  We had a great turn out for this special day.  I think the kids and grandparents enjoyed visiting with each other.  Thanks to all who were able to come!

Monster Mash

Friday we held a Monster Mash in the music room.  I think it was my favorite day of the year so far!  We had a ball.  We have been learning all about the letter Mm this week, so this was the perfect way to end the week.  We played monster games and ate monster brains, eyes, tongues, hair, ears, etc., and drank monster slime.  The games we played were, Pin the Eye on the Cyclops, Monster Eye spoon race, and Godzilla Stomp.  Godzilla Stomp was definitely the favorite.  You play it kind of like musical chairs.  We had huge feet that they had to race to get on when the music stopped.  We took away a foot each round and if you didn't find a foot you had to sit.  The kids caught on quickly and had so much fun!  Hope you enjoy these precious pics.  Oh, and check out the food that a sweet room mom from Mrs. Mayas' class made for us.
